Haight & Associates, Inc. was established in October, 1980 as B.C. Haight Consulting Engineers. In 1994, the firm incorporated as Haight & McLaughlin, Inc. In 2002, they reorganized as Haight & Associates, Inc. Benjamin C. Haight, the firm’s founder, remains at the helm as President/CEO. The Firm is headquartered in Juneau, Alaska.
Haight & Associates, Inc. is licensed in the State of Alaska to provide Electrical Engineering services. The firm has been serving Juneau, Southeast Alaska, and Alaska for the past 39 years with design and construction services. Haight & Associates currently employs an exceptional full-time staff of seven, including two Professional Engineers, two Engineers, one drafter, one Lighting Designer and one Administrative Assistant.
At Haight & Associates, our goal is to provide quality professional engineering design services by combining experience, knowledge, and hard work, with a strong desire to exceed client expectations. To achieve this goal, we choose to employ an educated staff of experienced professionals, focused on quality and fully coordinated design. We manage our services effectively, follow an efficient design and quality control process, and are proactive and responsive in our approach.
Our experienced and skilled team of professionals understands that each client and project has an unique set of needs. To resolve those needs, we evaluate existing conditions, recommend solutions, anticipate design/construction conflicts and cost concerns, and present alternatives based on our engineering expertise.
Our company focuses our attention toward minimizing energy consumption, lighting sources and products, lighting controls, and equipment characteristics in order to obtain the best building system efficiencies economically feasible.
HAI Team Activity
On December 13th, 2019 the team celebrated Christmas with wonderful Christmas lunch including but not limited to the usual Ham, Turkey, sweet & mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Green bean casserole and of course traditional apple pie. We were able to find an editorial from 1998 featuring Ben Haight in the Journal of Alaska business and Commerce on Major Accomplishment of the company.
On November 19th, 2019 the team ended the work with an Alaskan Brewery tasting afternoon. What a great way to finish the work week.
Halloween 2019 was celebrated with the theme of “Animal Kingdom”
HAI team had the opportunity to be the set designer for Wearable Art 2019. After many hours of chicken wire, poly-fill, cardboard and wood pieces HAI completed an exceptional set design that was awe-inspiring. HAI was delighted with all the support, love and care Juneau Arts & Humanities Council shared.
On September 21st HAI Team went on an excursion to Alaska State Museum. We are proud to be part of the community that appreciates, preserve and exhibit Alaska’s natural history.

On September 1st 2017 HAI celebrated their 37 years of business – “Arts Speaks Where Words Are Unable to Explain” HAI welcomed four inspirational, creative, passionate and wonderful ladies to display and guide everyone through the journey of their beautiful Art. Cameron Vance, she loves to experience of creativity and enjoys the challenges in Art. Pua Maunu, she enjoys to capture the luminous quality of light unique to Southeast Alaska. Teri Robus, She uses all kind of mediums to pain and enjoys experimentation. Barbara Shepherd, as an avid birder she enjoys becoming a major focus of her Art. Dan Hopson, took us through his great guitar play and created a welcoming melody of the atmosphere.

Project Playground Volunteering – HAI team had a great time volunteering for Project Playground.
Beach Day – On a Friday afternoon HAI team had a beautiful Beach Day with fishing, flying kites and just enjoying the beautiful sunny day.

2018 American Society of Civil Engineers – Outstanding Project of the Year and Outstanding Engineering Achievement for Downtown Seawalk- Bridge to Gold Creek
2017 Green Building Council – The LEED Green building rating system Certification is presented to Haight & Associates for the the Project Mendenhall Valley Public Library in Gold Certification in ‘New Construction and Major Renovations’.
2016 Illuminating Engineering Society of North America – Award of Merit is presented to Ben Haight, Peggy Leslie for the project “Juneau Seawalk” in recognition of meritorious contribution to lighting design.
2016 Illuminating Engineering Society of North America – Section Award Presented by the Anchorage Section to Ben Haight & Peggy Leslie for the projects “Mendenhall Public Library” and “University Residence Hall” in Section recognition of commendable achievement in lighting design.
